What is Bounce Rate? Why Is it Critical For SEO And The Ways To Make It Lower?

What Is Bounce Rate?

First of all i will explain what is Bounce Rate. It is the rate of visitor when he visit some page or post and than leave it after some interval. That rate of staying on the website page/post is known as Bounce Rate.
You have seen the percentage of bounce rate in Google Analytics of your website. If it's below 70 then it is normal and good. Yesterday, a person showed me a site that has a bounce rate of 80%, I told him that the following reasons might be responsible:

1. Your website is so slow that the person leaves your site even before reading the article. For this purpose, you have to make your website faster. Perhaps, it's due to bad hosting or bad theme. If your theme is heavy, it's time to change the theme. Try to test your website for normal 3G and 4G speed!

2. The content you've written is so boring to read. It's said 80% people only read your title of the article whereas the rest 10-15 percent people read only the headings and the images whereas only a small portion read the entire article. It shows that Your Title Must be Best! Your article must be appealing images that can make the visitor stay longer on your website.

How you will determine your article is so boring to read?

The clear answer to this question is that your article is so long with long paragraph. You should write a paragraph maximum of 2 to 3 sentences.

Try to read the articles that are written Backlinko! Its bounce rate is 45%, he showed in an article via Google Analytics. Why it's so low? Because:

A. He writes short sentences.
B. He places relevant images.
C. He places his own videos.
D. The overall user experience on his website is great: theme, logo, coloring scheme.

a lot of people confused because of the complex definition of the bounce rate. Let me explain a little bit more about it.

Google Analytics defines this term as
"Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits (i.e. visits in which the person left your site from the entrance page without interacting with the page)."

Why people of this group got confused? Because they taught a number of duration is also included in bounce rate. The bounce rate has nothing to do with time. Either the visitor stays on your website for the whole day, and only one page, your bounce rate will be 100%. Yep, it will increase Avg. Session Duration, but not the bounce rate.

It shows that:
Bounce rate for a session with 4 page view is 0%
Bounce rate for a session with 3 page view is 25%
Bounce rate for a session with 2 page view is 50%
Bounce rate for a session with 1 page view is 100%
It means if the visitor visits only one page then its bounce rate will be 100%. The same goes for others.

The bounce rate is 60, and Avg. Time Duration is about 4 minutes.
The bounce can be from anything:
A) May be visitor click some ad or external link from your website and get redirected there.
B) May be the visiter close the tab on which he/she have opened your article/post/site
C) They may add new url while leaving your site
D) Or maybe the go back to the previous page they have opened in same tab.

Again it has nothing to do with time. I hope You understand Bounce Rate Now.
Because of the yesterday confusion, I have decided to write more about it in part 3, how we can lower our bounce rate and increase Avg. Duration Time.

The better hosting you have, which has good uptime, is good for SEO. Then I also explained how you could check the uptime of a hosting via website www.uptimerobot.com free of cost.

It doesn't matter how much fast hosting you have; you can make it even more quickly with a CDN. You might be thinking what the CDN is?

CDN stands for Content Delivery Network. As the term tells that it's a network of servers all over the world (most cities) that store your website data (cache) for the fast delivering to the required user.
For example, you buy a local hosting of Pakistan, its server is only in Lahore. The user who lives in Lahore will be able to run the website fast which is hosted on the local hosting, but when the person who is living in the USA will try to open the Pakistani site it would take time.

So, what is the solution for it? How can you make your site faster to the user who opens your site while living in the USA? By CDN!

Yes, you will use CDN which is free. Use of Cloudflare. Today almost every website uses the CDN of CloudFlare because of its performance otherwise MaxCDN is the best if you have money.
Once you establish the CDN on your site, your site will be delivered to the servers all over the world. If the person lives in Paris, your website will be loaded fast thanks to the CDN.
It means even if you buy slow hosting; CDN will make your site faster? No, it's not the case. If your hosting is down, CDN will not help in this regard. Yes, it saves your bandwidth that you can check after putting your site by going to Dashboard.
